2022, Genetics and the Behavior of Domestic Animals, Third EditionEffects of Theileria orientalis Ikeda type infection on libido and semen quality of bulls
2020, Animal Reproduction ScienceCitation Excerpt :The results from the present experiment extended for more than 61 days after the date of the greatest infection intensity with T. orientalis Ikeda type and the resulting nadir in HCT, thus, any sperm abnormalities resulting from this infection should have been detectable during the period when there were evaluations in the present study. Even when there is adequate semen quality, there can be marked reproductive failures if the bull does not have an optimal amount of libido for mating (Chenoweth, 1981). This appears to be an aspect of bull performance that was affected to some extent by T. orientalis Ikeda type infection.
